Thought Id share my kit as of now for the 2019 Gunny Loopy Loop, Biggie Loop. I might tweak a few things over the next couple weeks, but most of whats shown will be part of what keeps me hydrated, fed, warm-ish, and dry. I’ll go over a few things but if there’s questions please let me know.

Etrex 20/ 2 extra AA batteries, cache battery/cord for my crappy phone.
Micro First Aid Kit/Fire Starter Kit, Back Up Water Tabs.
Plus: clothing worn, shoes, helmet, gloves, sunnies.
Think that is all. It is very similar to what I’ve been carrying over the years. I sometimes add and subtract a few things, but this is a good representation of my core kit. I don’t plan on sleeping all that much, 1.5-3 hours a day, and I run pretty warm. I Did Not put this together only based on weight or space, but knowing what I can handle over lots of trail and error. I might add a bit more warm stuff if we get a cold snap in the next couple weeks, otherwise, Loopy Loop here I come!!!
I haven’t read many of your posts, so sorry if this is a question I should have been able to answer myself.. You write ‘homemade bag’… You make your bike bags yourself? That’s awesome 🙂 Any tips for beginners on how to do that?
Yes, I started bike packing before bags were widely available, so I have been making my own all along. If you know how to sew, bags are not that hard? If you don’t know how to sew, I’d start there, fleece hats are where I started. Also lots of DIY videos and tutorials out there for making bags.
